Conservancy staff and partners advocate for the Everglades in Tallahassee

February 13, 2024

On February 6, 2024, Michele Arquette-Palermo, Water Policy Manager at the Conservancy, and Allie Pecenka, Policy Associate with Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation, traveled to Tallahassee to meet with legislators from Charlotte, Lee, and Collier Counties to discuss the findings from our recent economic study.

On February 7, Michele and Allie joined 44 Everglades Coalition members and volunteers, including many university students, for Everglades Action Day to share the coalition’s legislative priorities with our legislators.

In 2024, the Everglades Coalition urges the Florida legislature to:

  • Fully fund Everglades restoration
  • Strengthen protection for all Florida waters
  • Reinstate strong statewide and regional land use planning to guide sustainable growth
  • Protect investments in Everglades restoration from the impacts of climate change
