On January 10th, 2023, Governor DeSantis signed Executive Order 23-06.
This order demonstrates the Governor’s clear commitment for funding Everglades Restoration and improving water quality in Florida.
- Securing $3.5 billion over the next 4 years for Everglades Restoration and water quality initiatives
- Continued commitment to strong partnership, coordination and communication between the South Florida Water Management District and the Army Corps of Engineers to maintain momentum for Everglades Restoration projects and ensure the Lake Okeechobee System Operating Manual is protective of the downstream estuaries
- Reinforces the State’s commitment to strengthen Basin Management Action Plans (BMAPs) and ensure meaningful progress towards restoring water quality
- Maintains the State of Florida’s support and commitment to provide necessary funding to ensure vulnerable lands are protected through Florida Forever and within the Florida Wildlife Corridor
